What an anonymous compatibility report contains
"Test This Mac" can send one small report about how Revit's Viewer mode ran on your Mac. It helps us learn which Macs work well and tune the ratings the test gives. This page lists every field a report can hold. There are no others.
Reports are off by default. Nothing is sent unless you tick the box on the result window after a test, and you can read the exact text first: the app shows it to you before anything leaves your Mac.
This page covers Test This Mac compatibility reports. Get Help → Send to Liviu is a separate support request with a reviewable diagnostic attachment. That attachment can include time-zone details and limited setup-checker status; see the privacy policy. Those details are not added to compatibility reports or automatic failure summaries.
When a report is sent
- Only when you choose to. It is never sent in the background, and never by itself after a later test. When a test has finished, its result window has a box to tick, off every time. If you tick it, that one test's report is sent right away. If you do not tick it, nothing is sent.
- Leaving the box off records that reports are off, so an earlier yes never sends a later report on its own. A report that was already sent cannot be taken back, but it holds only the fields listed here.
- One request over HTTPS, with a 10 second limit. If it fails it is tried once more, then dropped. Nothing is kept to try again later. The app does not follow redirects and sends no cookies.
- The text the app shows you, below its first paragraph, is the text it sends, letter for letter. That first paragraph is only an explanation and is not sent. Each test result has one report number that stays the same, so looking at the report again, or sending it, never changes it. The app refuses to send a report that has any field not on this page.
The fields
One line each. Every value is checked against a strict pattern before it is used, and a value that does not fit is sent as null.
schema_version— The version of this list (currently 1), so a report can be read correctly later.app_version— The version of this app you ran, such as 0.9.0.report_id— A random number made for this one test result and kept with it on your Mac, so the report you preview is the report that is sent. It is not your licence or install number, and it is not made from anything in your account, so two reports cannot be linked to each other or to you.mac_model— Your Mac's model identifier, such as Mac14,2. It names a kind of Mac, not your own Mac.chip— The name of the chip, such as Apple M2.ram_gb— How much memory the Mac has, in whole gigabytes.macos_version— The macOS version, such as 26.6.rosetta— Whether Apple's Rosetta 2 translator works on this Mac (trueorfalse).wine_version— The version of the Windows compatibility layer (Wine) this app installed, such as 11.0_1.revit_build— Revit's own build number, such as 26.1.0.35.measurements— The numbers the test measured. They are listed next.verdict— The rating the test gave:great,good,slow,not_recommended.nullwhen the test could not finish.error_code— A short code for why the test could not finish, ornullwhen it finished. The possible codes arebusy,not_installed,intel,macos,path,translocated,rosetta,disk,ram,preflight,never_idle,notice_open,revit_closed,revit_stopped,cancelled,unexpected. A test you stopped yourself is never reported.
The measurements
measurements.splash_seconds— Seconds from starting Revit until its first window appeared.measurements.idle_seconds— Seconds from starting Revit until it was ready to use.measurements.notice_seconds— Seconds Revit waited for a click on its Viewer mode notice. It is taken off the start-up time when the rating is worked out, because it measures how quickly someone clicked, not the Mac.measurements.wine_memory_mb— Memory used by Revit and the Windows side together, 30 seconds after Revit was ready, in megabytes.measurements.wine_processes— How many Windows programs were running at that moment (a count, not their names).measurements.swap_used_mb— How much more memory macOS had moved to disk (swap) at that moment than just before Revit started, in megabytes. Swap that was already in use is not counted.measurements.model_status— What happened when the test opened one of Autodesk's own sample models:opened, timeout(still opening when the test stopped waiting),closed(Revit closed itself),none(no sample model was found),failed(it could not be handed to Revit) orskipped(no time was left).measurements.model_open_seconds— Seconds the sample model took to open.measurements.model_size_mb— The size of that sample model's file in megabytes, so opening times can be compared. Not its name.measurements.clean_shutdown— Whether every Windows program had stopped after the test (trueorfalse).measurements.total_seconds— Seconds the whole test took.

What is never collected
A report has none of these, and the app has no way to add them:
- your name, your user name, or the name of your Mac or your account
- your e-mail address, Apple ID, or anything from your Autodesk account or sign-in
- your licence key, subscription details, or the app's own install number
- your Mac's serial number or any other number that belongs to your own Mac
- folder paths or file names, including the name of any model or project
- the contents of any file, and any text from a log
- a list of your apps or of the programs running on your Mac (only a count of Windows programs, as above)
- the date or time of the test, or your location
- your network address. The report does not contain it. The server that receives the report necessarily sees the address the request came from, as any website does.
Nothing in this test signs in to Autodesk or touches Autodesk licensing. It uses Revit's Viewer mode, which needs no account.
